On Sunday, August 26th Rev. Julie Rogers and Rev. Rob Mark welcomed Mass IWJ into their community and hosted an empowering Labor in the Pulpit service at Church of the Covenant. Rev. Julie Rogers shared powerful reflections on the ways she has witnessed our system fail to support working people, tying in a scripture reading from Isaiah 65:17-23 that concludes “my chosen shall long enjoy the work of their hands.”
Mass IWJ Organizer, Sarah Kelley, spoke to the congregation about the importance of faith allies in the fight for immigrant and worker justice and welcomed to the Pulpit Doris Reina-Landaverde of the Massachusetts TPS Committee. Doris told her story as a worker, a mother, a Muslim, and an El Salvadoran TPS recipient. She called on parishioners to support the movement to save TPS and show up for their immigrant neighbors who enrich our country in so many ways.
